Social Organization in Greece
Family structure:
It is common for Greeks to feel that there family is more than just there mother, father, and siblings. Greeks treat there extended family as part of there nuclear family most commonly. Family is a big value in Greece.
Social classes:
Greece's class system is marked by a high degree of mobility. Wealthy families often exist in urban areas. Social status generally relies on a variety of factors, such as occupation and education. Family farms are not as common as they were in the 19th century, business ownership and being one's own boss are considered the ideal. Workers involve themselves in the tourism industry and small shopkeeping. Higher education also is highly valued as a measure of class and success, and thousands of students compete every year for a small number of university places.
